Career History
Kiyomi has a had largely successful career in textile arts, for her work in silk, metal and a rare by-product of silk, kibiso thread. In October 2009, a metal wall piece by Kiyomi, “Yuai (fraternity)” (pictured right) was presented Barrack Obama by the Japanese prime minister at the time. She was also awarded various awards and honours such as Yaddo Fellow in 1991 & 1993, the New York foundation for the Arts Artist Fellowship in 1988 & 1993 and also the National Endowment for Arts Artist Fellowship in 1986. Kiyomi has also done 9 solo exhibitions (exhibition pictured above) within USA and Japan and participated in 50 selected group exhibitions in the USA, Japan, Hungary, Denmark, Switzerland, France and Bermuda. As well as this amazing feat, Kiyomi has also done numerous lectures and consulting work in various universities and art schools.
